COMMENTS: Canon dropped the very, very expensive 50/1.0L some time ago and have now (2006) replaced it with the 50/1.2L. It's quite a lot more affordable at $1400, but still pretty expensive compared to the 50/1.4, which is only 1/2 stop slower but about 1/5th of the cost. Nevertheless, for those who need and can afford the 50/1.2L it's Canon's fastest lens and a much better buy than the old 50/1.0L was.
