COMMENTS: I've always liked Canon's 300/4L lenses. By telephoto standards they are small, light, not too expensive and very sharp. For years the original 300/4L was my most used lens for wildlife work. This is the Image Stabilized version and it also focuses closer then the original non-IS version. The addition of IS makes this lens very "handholdable", further increasing its utility. On an APS-C DSLR it acts as a 480mm f4 lens would on a full frame camera, an excellent focal length for wildlife work. It works well with the Canon 1.4x TC giving a very good 420/5.6 lens (equiv. to 672mm if used on an APS-C DSLR) with full AF. It's also compatible with the 2s TC giving a 600/8 (960/8 equiv. on APS-C). A very good lens. Certainly on my recommended list.
