COMMENTS: One of Canon's older lenses, introduced as an alternative to the expensive EF 20-35/2.8L. A decent performer, it gives wideangle zoom capabilities to any full frame EOS body and it's pretty well built with a true ring USM and full time manual focus. On an APS-C DSLR it's pretty much a "normal" zoom, giving the same FOV as a 32-56mm zoom would on full frame. The EF 17-40/4L is an alternative. It has a wider range and is a better lens, but it's over $300 more expensive.
