COMMENTS: One of my favorite lenses when I was shooting film, and still very usable with APS-C DSLRs. It's quite sharp, the IS works well, though it's not quite as effective as the current generation of IS since it gives 2 stops of stabilization rather than the current 3. The only problem on APS-C DSLRs is that it's not really a wideangle anymore since it has the field of view of a 45-216mm on a full frame camera. However this is still a very useful range if you also have a dedicated wideangle lens like the EF-S 10-22/3.5-4.5 USM.
