COMMENTS: If you really want a superzoom and you want the best one that money can buy, this is it - though at around $2200 you'd better have a lot of it! It's no lightweight either, weighing close to 3.7lbs. It's a good lens, but it really can't compete in terms of optical quality with smaller range zooms like the 70-200/2.8L or 24-70/2.8L. It's strength lies in the ability to cover a huge range of focal lengths with relatively good image quality. If you really need to rapidly get from 28mm to 300mm, this is the lens. However if you want a fast lens with the highest optical quality you'd be better of with several smaller range high quality zooms.
