COMMENTS: This was Canon's original "superzoom", now replaced by the EF 28-300/3.5-5.6L. Like the newer lens it was the best superzoom available, but while it was optically very good by superzoom standards, it still wasn't as sharp (or as fast) as shorter range zooms or primes. A very good lens for someone who really needs to have one lens with the ability to zoom rapidly from 35mm to 350mm, but for most people splitting the range between several smaller range zooms may make more sense, since each lens will be smaller, lighter, sharper and (probably) cheaper!
