COMMENTS: A decent consumer telephoto zoom. It's surprisingly sharp at the short (70mm) end, still pretty good at 200mm, but does get a little soft wide open at 300mm. Still, it's only $160 and for those who rarely shoot wide open at 300mm or who only make small (4x6) prints when they do, it's not a bad lens. Note that the optics are the same as the micro USM version. The USM version may focus a little faster and be a little quieter, but there's really not all that much difference. This lens (and the USM version) has a metal lens mount, not the plastic lens mount found on some lower end consumer zooms.
