COMMENTS: A decent consumer telephoto zoom. Very similar to the non USM version except slightly faster and quieter focusing. This isn't a ring USM lens. It uses a micro USM motor and so it does not have silent focusing and it does not have full time manual focus. There's no distance scale and the front element does rotate during focusing, but it has a metal lensmount unlike many of the other lower end consumer zooms. Performance is surprisingly good at 70mm, still pretty good at 200mm, but it's a bit soft wide open at 300mm. It's still OK for smaller prints (4x6), but highly critical users may not be happy. However for under $200, it's still pretty decent value.
